Common Questions
Frequently Asked
Do I have to volunteer?
No one is required to volunteer — but here’s the honest math: the halftime show, the meals, and the trailer all run on parent help. And honestly? You don’t have to serve these kids — you get to. This is a front-row seat to your kid’s world in the biggest moments of their childhood — you’re not just moving props, you’re helping make the memories they’ll carry for decades. Most roles are just a few hours on a single day. Sign up for one shift, see how it feels, go from there.
How much time does volunteering actually take?
Less than you think. Most game-day roles are 2–3 hours total. Check the Volunteering page — every role lists its real time commitment up front.
What is the 'pit crew'?
The pit is the row of instruments at the front of the field (pit instruments, speakers, props, etc). The pit crew is the parent and student “Band-Aid” team that rolls all of it on and off the field in the few minutes around halftime. It’s physical but simple, you’re on the field for the show, and it’s genuinely fun. First-timers welcome — show up 30 minutes early and we’ll walk you through it.
Where do I find the schedule?
Two places: the Calendar page — the live Google Calendar plus the full season schedule — and GroupMe for last-minute changes and call times.
What do the boosters actually pay for?
Student meals, snacks, and drinks on game nights and contest days; show props and field equipment; travel logistics and equipment transportation; Senior Scholarships; last minute marching supplies for the “Band Mom Box.” Sponsorships, fundraisers, and donations are what keep the band playing.
Who do I contact about a question?
Fastest: post in the GroupMe — a board member or veteran parent will usually answer within the hour. For anything private, email us or talk to a board member at a game.
